With the advances made in cataract surgery methods and preoperative evaluations as well as intraocular lenses in the last two decades, today we can minimize the dependence on glasses for reading and near activities after surgery by using multifocal lenses during cataract surgery and choosing the appropriate and advanced surgical method, and achieve high satisfaction in patients who wish to perform most of their daily activities without glasses after cataract surgery. These lenses are called premium lenses and their cost is different from regular lenses in cataract surgery and they are not covered by insurance.
Accordingly, patients who wish to be free from glasses for most activities after surgery should have a more complete preoperative evaluation and examine the specific conditions of these lenses, and decide to use these lenses and surgical procedures with sufficient knowledge of their characteristics.
Today, we can correct astigmatism, hyperopia, myopia, and presbyopia along with cataract surgery according to the patient’s needs.
